I lived in Pac Heights for many many years and walked by this restaurant a hundred million times.  I always thought to myself that I should try it some time.  It took 20 years and clients coming in from out of town to get me to finally make a reservation.   The Art Deco style Cajun restaurant has an old San Francisco, nostalgic vibe.  I love the busy bar with a beautiful mirror that seems to add to the timeless grandeur of this small neighborhood spot.  The cozy, tall wooden booths create an intimacy for the family sized portions of spicy Southern food.  This is comfort food at its abundant best.   You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, but our faves of the night were the beet and Fuji apple salad, the Jambalaya served in an iron skillet, the Seafood Gumbo (order the small as the medium would easily feed 4 people), and the fried okra.  Yum.
